Town of Unicoi Police: Suspect arrested following chase, accused of ramming into police cruiser
A Johnson City man is in jail on several charges after police say he led officers on a pursuit and rammed into a police cruiser in Unicoi.
The Town of Unicoi Police were called to a home on Buffalo Mountain Ln. Saturday night around 9:30 p.m on a domestic disturbance report involving suspect Chris Wilson, 38, who had an order of protection filed against him by a victim earlier this year.
Police were in route when they received a call that Wilson was traveling south on Unicoi Dr. at a high rate of speed, and after attempting to stop the vehicle, officers say Wilson struck a car at the Unicoi Dr. and Highway 173 intersection, reversed and rammed into a Unicoi police car.
Officers were able to take Wilson into custody after he allegedly refused to get out of vehicle. Wilson was transported to the Erwin Police Department where officials say he blew a .26 on a breathalyzer test.
Charges Wilson faces from the Town of Unicoi Police Department includes aggravated domestic assault, a violation of order of protection, evading arrest (motor vehicle), resisting arrest and reckless driving. Wilson is also facing charges from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, who assisted in the officer-involved accident, and includes driving under the influence and driving on a revoked/suspended license.
