Tennessee Supreme Court suspends trials until February due to pandemic
The Tennessee Supreme Court has extended its trial suspension order for all localities until Feb. 26 due to the breakout of virus cases.
Justice Sharon Lee wrote that Tennessee is being hit hard by the coronavirus and the court has to protect the safety of those who come to court and those who work in courthouses.
Courts would still be allowed to have preliminary hearings and hear cases that can grant relief such as a request for an order of protection.
The court is also ordering all in-person proceedings in state and local courts to be postponed for at least 30 days beginning at the close of business Monday, Dec. 28.
