Gov. Northam issuing community block grants to three Southwest Virginia localities
Three areas in Southwest Virginia will receive a combined $1.9 million from Gov. Ralph Northam for community improvements through block grants.
The town of Independence in Grayson County is receiving $105,000 for purchase of food, freezers, and other equipment that will serve non-profit Food Independence. State officials will provide the City of Norton $1.5 million for rehabilitating housing units, replacing water infrastructure, and other improvements for the Southside Comprehensive Community Development.
Scott County will get over $313,000 state dollars for extension of a public water service to an unserved neighborhood.
