Multi County, High Speed Chase Leads To Arrest Of Hamblen County Man
A 51 year old Hamblen County Tennessee man who initially refused to stop for Washington County Virginia authorities during a multi county, high speed chase is now facing a host of other charges. 51 year old Alan Myers of Whitesburg, Tennessee is charged with Disregard Police Command to Stop, Driving without a license, and Reckless Driving after Myers began a high speed chase by refusing to stop for Washington County Virginia authorities on Interstate 81 near mile marker 27 point five after learning Virginia State Police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle from Morristown Tennessee. Myers drove his white Ford F250 at speeds of 80 mph and crossed into Smyth County where deputies took the lead in the pursuit. Myers continued on to Straight Branch on Route 58 when he was finally stopped by spike strips. A female passenger was taken into custody and Myers was arrested and is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
