Kingsport BMA approves smoking ban ordinance

Residents in Kingsport are now prohibited from smoking on the grounds of city playgrounds.

The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Alderman approved an ordinance on second reading Tuesday night that will move the ban forward, and anyone caught violating the ordinance could face a $50 fine.

The ban includes smoking of tobacco products, hemp products, or any other drug or substance, but does not include the use of a vaping product.
