County Commissioners Set Sullivan Property Rate At Nine Cent Increase
If you are a property owner in Sullivan County, the region’s largest county, you will be paying nine cents more on your assessed property value after Sullivan County Commissioners approved the tax hike Thursday evening. The revenues collected by the increase will be used to fund a new jail, to ease a severe overcrowded condition at the decades old holding facility. Commissioners also approved a 207 million dollar operating budget that provides a raise for county teachers and employees. The revenue will also help pay off about 80 million dollars in bonds.
