Despite Pandemic, Virginia Records Historic Budget Surplus
It’s hard to believe, considering the after affects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Virginia Governor Ralph Northam reports that Virginia reached the end of fiscal year 2021 with an historic two point six billion dollar surplus, that’s the largest in the Commonwealth’s history. Northam says the state managed its finances through the pandemic and fueled by a surging economy , plus federal American Rescue Plan funds, and the State’s huge surplus, the Commonwealth now has significant resources available to make transformational investments in Virginia. The total revenue collected during the final quarter of 2021 reached eight point six billion dollars
