Two Southwest Virginia police officers placed on leave after excessive force complaints filed
Tazewell Police Department Chief Dave Mills said a Virginia State Police investigation is underway after two of his officers were placed on administrative leave and accused of using excessive force during an arrest.
The incident took place at an auto parts store on Wednesday when Anthony Fuller, 44, began arguing and fighting with the officers after he was accused of causing a disturbance.
The policemen discharged a taser gun on Fuller and then wrestled him to the ground along with another individual. Fuller was then taken to a hospital for treatment of several injuries. According to Fuller’s family that includes broken ribs and a fractured eye socket.
Fuller is charged with obstruction of justice, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of assault on a police officer.
