UPDATE: Eyewitnesses say Dobyns Bennett student darted in between buses before being hit by SUV

Kingsport police have released more details following an incident that left a Dobyns Bennett High School student with serious injuries when he tried to cross a roadway near campus.

The pedestrian was identified as a 15-year-old male student who eyewitnesses said darted in between two school buses on East Center Street and then into the path of a 17-year-old driver’s SUV just after 3 p.m. Monday.

Police said the juvenile that was hit did not use a marked crosswalk that was in close range of that area. The driver, another DB student, was not hurt.
