Pigeon Forge wildfire 100 percent contained

Sights of flames stretching across forestland in Pigeon Forge Thursday night gave residents eerie flashbacks of a 2016 blaze that wiped out dozens of homes and killed 14 people.

Sevier County Emergency Management announced Friday afternoon that the wildfire that caused several residents and 200 guests at the Parkside Resort to leave under an evacuation order was 100 percent contained.

Tennessee has dealt with increased fire danger warnings over the past week due to dry and windy conditions.
