Early morning crash in Buchanan County results in one fatality

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened in Buchanan County early Sunday morning. A preliminary report says the crash happened at 2:20 AM on Route 676 just a mile East of Route 643.

A vehicle traveling Southbound ran off the left side of the road, over an embankment, and struck a tree. The driver, 32-year-old Matthew Justus of Bristol, Virginia was transported to Johnson City Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation.
