Virginia State Police reports nine traffic fatalities over Independence Day weekend
The 2022 Independence Day holiday proved fatal for nine drivers in Virginia, according to state police. The report is part of the Commonwealth’s Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E), a national program aimed at reducing traffic fatalities due to impaired driving or speed.
A total of nine fatal crashes happened in Virginia from July 1st to the 4th, three being motorcycles. The report says 69 drivers were arrested for DUI, and and more than 4,000 were ticketed for speeding or reckless driving.
