Abingdon: Lane closures on Interstate 81 Southbound July 31- August 3

The Virginia Department of Transportation says a portion of Interstate 81 Southbound in Abingdon will see a multi-day lane closure due to ongoing bridge repair. VDOT officials say lane closures will happen on Interstate 81 at mile marker 16, beginning on Sunday morning.

The South right lane will be closed from Sunday morning at 7 until Wednesday, August 3rd at 6 AM. Crews will repair a hole in the bridge deck, and local traffic is encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible.
