Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy Working On Alternative Ways To Reduce Jail Overcrowding
Its estimated that 85 percent of crimes committed in Sullivan County are due to or connected to drug activity of some sort. Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy, like many other sheriffs are faced with what Cassidy calls a double edged sword of working to take drug offenders off the streets, but trying to do so with an overcrowded detention center. Cassidy is working to find alternative solutions other than incarceration.

Cassidy recently doubled the size of the sheriff department’s narcotics division in an effort to boost the departments efforts in its battle against illegal drugs in the county.
