High school in Northern Virginia under investigation for potential civil rights violations
Attorney General Jason Miyares will direct state investigators to examine records and interview administrators of a Northern Virginia high school accused of violating the Virginia Human Rights Act.
Miyares says the leaders of the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County have controversial admission policies that have resulted in a decline of Asian American students at the facility.
Complaints have also been lodged by parents following a delay in the distribution of National Merit Scholarship honors that cost families thousands in potential financial aid for their children.
Thank you @JasonMiyaresVA for investigating the allegations that information about National Merit Awards was withheld from students at Thomas Jefferson High School. In Virginia we will always stand for parents and students. https://t.co/lPNBnaxSOe
