NC man charge with vehicular assault in Greene County crash

A North Carolina man was charged with seven counts of vehicular assault after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Greene County Sunday evening. Tennessee Highway Patrol says a Honda CRV was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-81 around 6:30 p.m. The CRV then hit a Honda Civic head-on near mile marker 21. The CRV then became airborne and came to a rest on the hood of a Nissan Pathfinder that was traveling behind the Civic. A Ford Mustang then hit the Civic. The driver of the CRV, identified as 31 year old Mardoqueo Aguilar Diaz of North Carolina, faces multiple charges including Seven counts of vehicular assault, DUI and Child Endangerment. Diaz and seven passengers, including six juveniles, were injured in the crash. Two of the juveniles seriously injured. The driver and passenger of the Honda Civic were also injured.
