VA Governor Youngkin issues statement on death of Smyth County Deputy
Governor Glenn Youngkin has released a statement regarding the death of Smyth County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Hunter Reedy. Reedy was killed in the line of duty and another deputy, Michael Fedorchuk, was injured when a North Carolina man opened fire during a traffic stop. The Governor’s statement ask for prayers in support of Deputy Reedy’s family and says it’s a stark reminder that law enforcement risks their lives everyday and the the deputies service to Smyth County will never be forgotten. The Governor has also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on the day of Deputy Reedy’s memorial, so that the “Commonwealth may honor his service and sacrifice.”
