Kingsport BMA approve justice center expansion
The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to approve the contract for an expansion project at the city’s justice center. The expansion will reportedly bring all of the city’s court functions under one roof. The total budget for the project is estimated to be nearly $19 million. The project includes expanding the entire building’s footprint into the existing parking lot, adding two new courtrooms, offices for the Kingsport Police Department, and the ability to house all city court operations in one place. The expansion is expected to take around two and a half years, a start date for the construction has not been specified.
