FBI: Smyth County School Board vice chair bribed teens online for nude photos and videos
Smyth County School Board Vice Chairman Todd Williams was arrested at his home Friday after an FBI investigation revealed months of bribing children in a Snapchat gay teen group in exchange for nude photos.
The report from the US Attorney’s Office said Williams spent more than $10,000 between May 2022 and January 2024 to sexually exploit at least six victims who Williams tempted with online video game purchases and money.
Prosecutors said in one instance, Williams promised the teen money using Cash App and a debit card if he would take pictures and video of the juvenile sexually abusing his 10-year-old stepbrother.
In another case, the court reports said Williams paid a teenager $3,000 for images of the juvenile and his boyfriend.
Williams, the Chilhowie representative, was appointed to the board in 2019 after member Stephen Marion resigned for health reasons. A published report said Williams was employed by Cedar Creek Lumber Company and had a child enrolled in Smyth County Schools.
