Virginia DWR suspends some trout stocking after Helene
The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources announced Monday it will suspend trout stocking in streams in Washington and Grayson counties due to damage from Hurricane Helene. The agency stated the decision to suspend trout stocking in the counties was made with public safety in mind to allow recovery efforts to continue unimpeded. Due to the closures within the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, the DWR will not stock trout in any streams located on USDA Forest Service land in Grayson, Scott, Smyth, Washington, Wise and Wythe counties.
