Free burn permits now required in TN

A free burn permit is now required in Tennessee prior to burning leaves or natural vegetation, including any debris caused by Helene. State Forester Heather Slayton said with debris from Helene, she expects more burning across the state than usual and also reminds residents that permits are required by law and the tool which helps residents know when and how to burn. Permits are available by visiting www.BurnSafeTN.org or by using the MyTN mobile app. Those with limited internet access can call 877-350-BURN.
