Sheriff’s Office: Suspect set victim on fire

A report from the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office said the victim of Sunday’s assault in Max Meadows was identified as Tiffany Nichole Dunford.
Dunford died Monday at a specialized burn unit from injuries caused when Savannah Renee Adams, 28, of Pulaski, allegedly assaulted her then set her on fire.
The Sheriff’s Office said Adams’ charge has been upgraded to first degree murder.

A Southwest Virginia woman accused of deliberately setting the victim on fire has been arrested.
Savannah Renee Adams, 28, of Pulaski, is charged with attempted second degree murder and felonious assault following the Sunday incident in Max Meadows on Ramsey Mountain Road, according to a report from the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office.
A preliminary report said Adams allegedly poured gasoline on the victim who suffered burns over most of her body. She was sent by helicopter to a specialized medical facility for her injuries.
