Demolition set to begin at former Virginia Intermont campus
Bristol, Virginia was planning to start demolition on some of the buildings of the former Virginia Intermont College campus damaged in a December 20 fire, but that was delayed because of weather Monday. Once the demo gets underway, there are parts of this infrastructure will be saved because of historical significance. While most of the contents inside are not salvageable, some parts of the actual structure is. Some of the salvageable pieces include an insignia from the front portico and a cornerstone from 1891. The salvaged items will be stored by the city until the future of the campus can be determined. Once the demolition gets started, city leaders said it will take about 2 weeks to complete.
