Kingsport Area Transit Service launches on-demand service

Kingsport Area Transit Service has unveiled a new on-demand service. KATS Connect, allows riders to request a trip through a mobile app or phone call. An Uber-like service, KATS will pick a person up at the requested time and take them as directly as possible to their destination within city limits. The service costs $3 each way and is a shared ride program, meaning there may be other riders in the shuttle to pick up and drop off along the way. The service launched Monday.
