VSP: Pedestrian Hit by Truck in Lee County
A pedestrian is in the hospital in serious condition after being hit by a truck in Lee County Monday morning.
According to Virginia State Police, a vehicle crashed less than a mile east of Route 632 after attempting to avoid a man in a crouched position. The man was reportedly in the right travel lane of westbound Route 58A, and the box truck swerved in the left lane, but was unable to avoid the pedestrian, hitting him in the shoulder.
The pedestrian was airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport to be treated for serious injuries. Police are working to confirm the man’s identity.
The driver of the truck sustained no injuries and the crash remains under investigation.
