Man Arrested in Road Rage Incident on I-81

A man is behind bars after a road rage incident on Interstate 81.

The victim called police and reported a vehicle driving recklessly and weaving in and out of traffic on I-81 near mile marker 33 in Greene County.

The incident came to it’s climax when 35-year-old Mathew Pilkington of Elizabethton pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim.

Troopers caught up to Pilkington on Interstate 26 at mile marker 13 and pulled him over. Officers recovered a black airsoft pistol and a knife.

Pilkington was arrested and taken to the Greene County jail. The highway patrol has charged him with aggravated assault.
