New Legislation Aims to Restore Voting Rights to Ex-Cons
Two Tennessee lawmakers have introduced legislation to aimed at returning voting rights to convicted felons once they serve their sentences.
Senator Steven Dickerson and Representative Michael Curcio announced the proposal Tuesday.
Under to bill felons would have their voting rights restored upon completion of their prison sentence and parole or probation period.
Curcio and Dickerson argue that more than 8% of Tennesseans are banned from voting due to felony convictions even though they have served their time.
