U.S. Marshals Warn of Phone Scam on the Rise
A growing number of attempted phone scams in east Tennessee involve scammers impersonating U.S. Marshall or U.S. Marshal Service employees have led to the organization issuing a warning to those living in the area.
The release from the U.S Marshals Service states that scammers will impersonate authorities and demand fiscal information for different crimes.
Giving out such private information can lead to identity theft and fraud.
Anyone receiving such a call is urged to report it to their local FBI office and file a consumer complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
