Johnson City Fire Department Wins Award for Excellence in Fire Services
The Johnson City Fire Department has received the Tennessee Municipal League’s 2019 Excellence in Fire Services Award.
The department received recognition from the Municipal League for its efforts in planning for current and future fire service needs. “The Johnson City Fire Department is committed to excellence in public safety,” said Johnson City Fire Department Chief James Stables. “By engaging in proactive planning and collaboration with multiple entities, we have been able to improve staffing levels, initiate plans for new fire stations, and facilitated upgrades and the replacement of aging equipment.”
The department worked with the University of Tennessee Municipal Technical Advisory Service to complete a comprehensive fire management study, which helped to devise a formal planning effort to work within the city’s budget limitations. JCFD is also working towards an accreditation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s Commission on Fire accreditation as well as encouraging those in the department to receive professional certification that will help improve the department as a whole.
